Rob Todd designed the spork more than 10 years ago in response to his own frustration at constantly having to switch between a spade and a fork when working the soil. After brainstorming several ideas and producing 20 different prototypes eventually the spork was born.
Since its introduction to the gardening community, through garden tools manufacturer DeWit, the spork has become increasingly more popular thanks to the unique qualities it possesses.
The Spork:
It is suitable for:
The spork works like an ordinary spade in most soil and can have the advantage over regular spades, especially when working in heavy soil, because not only is it lighter but the gaps in between tines produce less resistance. When using the spork as a fork you'll find similar advantages - the lightweight design providing easier lifting, and because the tines are joined together the strength of this innovative garden tool is not compromised.
At Hortica we stock this fantastic multi-tasking tool in various forms and sizes. From the 90cm D handle spork to the 80cm version, from the long handle pull spork to the hoe-style push spork.
